The U.S. Forest Service Incident Procurement Operations Directorate (IPO), in partnership with the Fire and Aviation Management Program Office (FAM), is excited to share that development is underway on the next generation of the Virtual Incident Procurement system (VIPR). VIPR Next Gen is being built with a strong focus on improving efficiency, simplifying processes, and creating a better, more user-friendly experience for both vendors and Forest Service.
Timeline & What to Expect
- VIPR Next Gen is planned for release in early 2026.
- All 2026 solicitations and agreements will be issued in the new system.
- To prepare for this transition, the current VIPR system will go offline on December 1, 2025.
Important:
This downtime will NOT affect the status of your current agreements or your ability to receive and accept orders. You simply will not be able to submit new quotes or make changes until VIPR Next Gen goes live in 2026. We appreciate your patience as we transition to a system designed to better serve you and the wildland-fire community.

These materials will be distributed to current VIPR awardees through email, posted on the VIPR Next Gen page, and on the Procurement & Property Services (PPS) website.
